Title: Demography of supermassive black holes over the cosmic time

Time: 3:00PM, January 8th (Friday)

Location: 3rd floor, middle conf. room

Abstract:

QSOs are believed to be powered by accretion onto supermassive black holes (SMBHs) in active galactic centers; and SMBHs also commonly exist in the centers of most nearby quiescent galaxies, as QSO remnants.  In this talk I will overview the current status of demographic studies on both the quiescent SMBHs in the nearby universe and the actively growing SMBHs over the cosmic time. I will also discuss the modeling of the assembly history of SMBHs and the constraints on some intrinsic properties of accretion physics and nuclear activities obtained from recent observations.
