Talk Title:  The Herschel Space Observatory's views of low-mass star formation

Abstract:  The Herschel Space Observatory is currently providing an unprecedented view of the far-infrared sky.  Herschel's unique spectral and imaging capabilities in this key wavelength region are revolutionizing our views of star and planet formation.  In this talk, I will review how Herschel has changed our understanding of pre-main sequence stellar evolution, including the structure of cold molecular clouds and initial collapse of a protostar, feedback between the star and surrounding envelope, and the structure and chemistry of proto-planetary disks.
