Abstract:
I review the theory and consequences of stellar migration in disk galaxies. Using simulations, I show how disk outskirts and thick disks can be produced by migration of stars on nearly circular orbits.I review some of the observational evidence that migration has beensignificant in at least some galaxies, but not in others.
