Title: Adaptive Optics Instrumentation Projects at the MPIA.

Speaker: Dr. Stefan Hippler, Max Planck Institute for Astronomy (MPIA) in Heidelberg, Germany.

Time: 3:00pm, Tuesday, May 28, 2013

Place: Middle Coference Room

Abstract: High angular resolution observations using adaptive optics (AO) are nowadays possible on almost all 8-10m class telescopes. A new generation of AO-supported instruments is currently being built and will be ready in the coming years. In this talk I will present the AO part of some of these instruments, like the VLT planet imager SPHERE, the VLT-I's astrometry instrument GRAVITY, or the planned E-ELT mid-infrared imager and spectrograph METIS.
