Prof. Anthony Readhead, the director of Owens Valley Radio Observatory and Strategic Alliance for the Implementation of New Technologies, paid a visit to Shanghai Astronomical Observatory (SHAO) at the invitation of the director of SHAO Prof. Xiaoyu Hong. During his four-day stay in Shanghai, Prof. Readhead gave an interesting talk on measurements of polarization in the CMB. Academician Shuhua Ye, Prof. Xiaoyu Hong, Zhiqiang Shen and Dr. Tao An also discussed with Prof. Readhead on collaborations between SHAO and CalTech. They agreed on three items of cooperations including scientific research (Compact-Steep-Spectrum sources, GHz-Peaked sources, Compact Symmetric Objects), instrument device design (K-band, Q-band receiver), and radio source monitoring program making use of Shanghai 25-meter and 65-meter radio telescopes. A memorandum or an agreement is to be signed soon after Prof. Readhead returns to CalTech.
